I always thought it was kind of harsh of people to call Bernie a Betty Page wanna-be, ripoff, impersonator, etc. since most girls into the rockabilly scene that sport the black hair, short bangs & retro clothes usually resemble Betty Page in someway. I saw a video on Youtube the other day that showcased a bunch of Betty Page and Bernie Dexter photos. I don’t know how the person did it, but they placed Betty’s photos side by side to Bernie’s photos and it was pretty revealing. By placing the photos side by side it was obvious that Bernie attempted to re-create Betty Page’s work on several occassions when she first started out. The video had about 30 Betty & Bernie pictures side by side and it was really quite amazing how EXACTLY alike the pictures were. I mean, the resemblance went way beyond the hair and stockings. The pictures were perfectly replicated, right down to the positioning of the model and props – it was AMAZING. I highly doubt that the likeness in all 30 pictures was a coincidence. Now I see what people are talking about when they say that Bernie needs to admit that she copied Betty Page because she did. These days, Bernie does her best to not copy Betty and she steers clear away from making any reference to Betty Page being her influence but I think that’s because she’s afraid of getting sued by CMG Worldwide.

The video has since been removed, I assume because ms Dexter didn’t like the implications…especially since CMG is watching her.

I don’t mean to resurrect this but I can believe how nasty you people are.
Bernie – I really hope you aren’t affected by the vileness of these people. It must be hard not to be.
Don’t you people have anything better to do than bitch about one of the nicest women around, who always takes time to answer messages and talk to her fans and quite frankly puts up with a whole bunch of crap from mean-spirited, jealous losers. WTF does it matter to you what she says or thinks?

Genial la escritura de Sanguinetti, traduce de manera vital y cruda sin miramientos, como la realidad misma todo lo que este sistema nos impone para esclavizarnos, no ahorra adjetivos ni todo lo que tiene a mano en lengua española que utiliza como nadie hoy, en países de habla hispana, donde es atacado y envidiado. Pero a no preocuparse si lo persiguen como lo hacen las democracias de “facto”, como dice Sanguinetti no hará falta esperar tanto para que caiga en la trampa de los poderes. Se sabe y hay un silencio tremendo acerca de los atentados a su vida que sufrió por manifestarse en total libertad y valentía. Nadie levanta la voz, pues siempre se antepone el resentimiento y la envidia de quienes no se animan a levantar la voz como él lo hace. Bravo por este hombre de Corazón Valiente. Su nombre no lo olviden Eduardo Sanguinetti, extranjero de este sistema de cobardes.

Bernie Dexter was invited by Steve Brewster to join the Bettie Scouts of America, the official Bettie Page fan club AFTER Bettie passed away. I used to be a member of the group until Steve Brewster started going goo-goo ga-ga over Bernie Dexter. As soon as she joined the club she waisted no time posting over 100 photos of herself on the site, some with her own comments of how weird it was how much she looked like Bettie. I left the group shortly there after as I thought it was the height of hipocrisy for an individual who doesn’t want to be a called a Bettie Page impersonator to post a bunch of pictures of herself on a website dedicated to Bettie Page. It got to be so bad that Bernie would upload pictures of herself and then post a message to the group “just posted more pictures!”. Like WTF? It’s bad enought that she won’t admit that she’s making a living off of Bettie Page’s image now she’s using the Bettie Page fan club to drum up more popularity/business. It’s a website dedicated to Bettie Page not Bernie Dexter yet here’s all these pictures of Bernie!
And she says that I’m the one who’s pathetic….at least I am my own person, not a wanna-be living in denial!

She may have reacted in a humble and thankful way to you but I guess you haven’t read all the articles and blogs out there were she actually gets upset and offended when called a Bettie Page look-a-like. Once again she’s contradicting herself….
